Incorporate your love of wine into your home décor in ways that are both obviously and clever and subtle and understated. Use our wine decorating tips.

Wine is one of the hottest trends around when it comes to parties, dining out, and interior design. People are embracing their love of this fermented fluid and expressing it in wonderfully creative ways throughout their home. Use some of our tips for interior decorating with a wine “theme” or share with us ways that you’ve incorporated wine into your home décor.

Wine Color Inspiration

Why go obvious when subtle will work just fine, and it’s a little easier to incorporate into say the bedroom. From rich plum hues to soft color grazed blushes, there is a wide spectrum of wine colors that you can incorporate into your home to reflect your love of wine yet not overwhelm the rest of the décor. If you’re thinking about heading into the reds and burgundies, begin with a few accent pieces or painting an accent wall because too much of a good thing can lead to a color hangover.

Wine Corks

With cork inspiration we can be both obvious and subtle. Actual wine corks make fantastic (what else) cork boards that work well in a number of places around the house. They also make really cool borders when flanked on either side by pieces of wood trim, perfect for a chair rail in a dining room. If you’re thinking subtle is more your style, then simply look down. Cork flooring is a huge interior decorating trend right now and it’s also an environmentally friendly choice.

Wine Bottles and Light

Let there be wine, or is that light? Well, how about both. Wine bottles are perfect vessels to be transformed into light fixtures. From complicated wine bottle chandeliers that add rustic charm to simple candle holders and everything in between, wine bottles almost scream out to be used with light.

The Wine Rack

Collecting wine has always been a hobby of some but displaying it was never really trendy (the light actually isn’t very good for the wine) and wine was tucked into cellars. Today wine racks have become objects of art themselves from simple single bottle holders to wine racks that take up and entire dining room wall. The key to having a successful wine focal point is finding something that is unique and will leave guests a little envious, no run of the mill wine racks please.

Wine Accessories

Then there is always the obvious, wine accessories. You can find them in most decorating stores and a lot of the discount ones. Look for pictures of wine bottles or sommeliers, grape sprigs, wine glasses that are hand painted, and anything else you can think of that adds a bit more overt wine décor to your room. The important thing to remember here is that when you’re going with the obvious and literal translation of an inspiration do it sparingly or you’ll end up looking to kitschy.

Whether you consider yourself a dyed in the wool wine snob or you just like to indulge a little on special occasions, decorating with wine inspiration can help you create an aura of relaxation with a nod to nature.
